Toronto Distillery District: What to Do, Eat & See in 2026

Pedestrian-only, car-free, and stunning year-round — the Distillery District's best restaurants, galleries, cafés, and the Christmas Market every local loves.

Built in 1832 as the Gooderham and Worts Distillery, this 13-acre complex is now home to over 70 studios, galleries, restaurants, and boutiques spread across beautifully preserved Victorian industrial buildings. It's one of the most-photographed spots in Toronto — and for good reason.

Where to Eat & Drink

Best Photo Spots The cobblestone alley between Tank House Lane and Trinity Street, the red brick archways near the Boiler House complex, and the Christmas Market lights in November are the most-photographed locations. Golden hour (1 hour before sunset) is ideal.

Getting to the Distillery District

The Distillery District sits on the eastern edge of downtown at 55 Mill Street, east of Parliament Street. The easiest options: the 65 Parliament bus from Dundas/Parliament stops at the front gate; or ride the 504 King streetcar to Parliament and walk south 10 minutes. Driving is possible but parking fills fast on weekends — use the Green P lot on Cherry Street. From Union Station it's a pleasant 20-minute walk east through the Port Lands area.

The Christmas Market (Why It's Worth the Crowds)

The Toronto Christmas Market, held annually from mid-November through Christmas Eve, is one of the best urban holiday events in Canada. European-style wooden market stalls fill the cobblestone lanes, selling mulled wine (glühwein), artisan gifts, and seasonal food. The heritage buildings draped in lights create a genuinely magical setting that's difficult to replicate. Weeknight visits are calmer — weekend afternoons get extremely crowded. The market is free to enter.
