Hank's Chill is a hidden slushie bar inside Armed jewellery at 903 Dundas St W. Diet Coke slushies for $3.80, matcha, piña colada — small batch, premium ingredients, and a TikTok-viral origin story.
At the back of Armed — a jewellery store on Dundas West — there are four slushie machines and a handwritten menu. The Diet Coke slushie is $3.80. It's served in a Diet Coke can piled high with frozen slush. It tastes exactly like a Diet Coke slushie should, which is to say: perfect.
This is Hank's Chill, and it went viral for a reason.
Owner Desiree Girlato — who also runs Armed — wanted a Diet Coke slushie and couldn't find one anywhere in Toronto. So she bought a machine, figured out the recipe herself, and set it up in the back of her store to see if anyone else was interested.
They were. TikTok got hold of it. The line got long. Desiree bought more machines (now at four), gave it a name — Hank's, after her son — and expanded the menu.
The Diet Coke is the move. It's the reason this place exists and it delivers.
Girlato is planning a standalone Hank's Chill shop next summer, potentially near Trinity Bellwoods, with a fuller menu of frozen drinks including boozy versions — think Aperol spritz slushie. The jewellery store pop-up format was the proof of concept.
For now, the back of a Dundas West jewellery store is the only place you can get one. That's either a hassle or the whole point, depending on how you look at it.
Dundas West between Ossington and Dufferin has become one of the most interesting food-and-drink corridors in the city. The neighbourhood hosts natural wine bars, Filipino restaurants, vintage stores, and independent coffee shops within a few blocks. Hank's Chill fits perfectly into this ecosystem — it's the kind of neighbourhood where a slushie bar inside a jewellery store makes complete sense and nobody finds it strange. If you're making a trip, pair it with a coffee at one of the nearby cafés or an early dinner at one of the Colombian or Caribbean spots a few doors down.
Honestly, yes — especially in summer. The $3.80 price point for a genuinely excellent Diet Coke slushie is almost impossible to beat in a city where a basic cocktail runs $18. The novelty of the setting (jewellery store pop-up) makes it a Toronto story worth having. And the slushie itself delivers. It's one of those places you bring visitors to because it's a perfectly Toronto combination of unexpected, resourceful, and actually delicious. Don't overthink it.

Insider tip Go on a weekday if you can. Weekend lines after it went viral can stretch out the door. Weekday afternoons are significantly more manageable — and the slushie is worth the walk from Ossington or Dufferin station.
