The entrance really does look like a working variety store, and the decor nails old-school Hong Kong nostalgia without feeling forced. There’s nowhere else in Toronto where you’ll find osmanthus-infused gin martinis next to funky Sichuan snacks. The DJ programming is on point, bringing in music heads and casual dancers alike.
Mahjong Bar takes Toronto's speakeasy game up a notch: you step through a faux corner store into a dim, warmly lit interior with jade green tiles and glowing lanterns. The kitchen serves up Sichuan-inspired bar snacks—think crispy chicken skin and mapo tofu fries—while the bar crafts Asian-inflected cocktails starring lychee, osmanthus, and baijiu.
