Editorial Policy — WTF Toronto

How WTF Toronto creates, reviews, and updates content. Our standards for accuracy, independence, and transparency.

Our Mission

WTF Toronto is an independent Toronto city guide helping residents and visitors find restaurants, events, neighbourhoods, hidden spots, and practical information without paid editorial influence or tourist-trap inflation.

We do not publish press releases as editorial and do not accept payment to alter coverage of a listing, event, or venue.

How We Select What to Cover

We choose content for relevance, quality, and usefulness. We prioritize Toronto-specific context, timely information, places and experiences worth readers' time, and content gaps that are not well covered elsewhere. Advertising does not guarantee editorial coverage.

Accuracy and Sourcing

We make reasonable efforts to verify information before publishing, including official websites, hours, phone numbers, and pricing. For guides and articles, we use independent editorial research, official sources, local knowledge, and firsthand experience where available.

Toronto changes quickly. Hours, prices, and availability can change, so readers should confirm time-sensitive details directly with the venue. Corrections can be submitted through our Corrections page.

Affiliate Links and Sponsorship

Affiliate links may generate revenue for WTF Toronto at no extra cost to the reader. Commercial relationships are disclosed where applicable and do not determine editorial rankings or recommendations. Sponsored listings are clearly marked.

Updates and Corrections

We update content when businesses open or close, hours change, or recommendations evolve. Significant factual corrections are noted in the relevant article or guide.

Independence

WTF Media Inc., a federally incorporated corporation registered to operate in Ontario, independently operates the WTF Toronto publication. WTF Toronto is not part of a parent media company or investor group, and advertisers and partners do not control editorial decisions. Opinions expressed are those of the WTF Toronto editorial team.
