The best indoor play places in Toronto for kids and families — Ontario Science Centre, Ripley's Aquarium, Sky Zone, Laser Quest, Playdium, Putting Edge, and more. Updated for 2026.
The Ontario Science Centre at Harbourfront Centre is the top pick — it has KidSpark for ages 10 and under with hands-on science activities, plus interactive exhibits across 86,000 sq ft. Ripley's Aquarium is spectacular for young children, especially the moving walkway under the shark tank. For purely physical indoor play, Sky Zone's Toddler Time sessions (weekday mornings, under-7s only) are excellent.
The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) offers free general admission on the third Tuesday monthly from 4–8:30pm. The AGO offers free general admission on the first Wednesday monthly from 6–9pm and runs free Sunday family workshops. The Toronto Public Library has excellent free programming for children throughout the week at branches across the city.
Rainy day gold: Ontario Science Centre at Harbourfront Centre (3–4 hours, hands-on science), Ripley's Aquarium (3 hours minimum), ROM (2–4 hours), Putting Edge glow golf (90 minutes, any age), Laser Quest (6 and up), Playdium arcade in Mississauga, or any of the Toronto Public Library's drop-in children's programs. All-indoor, all-weather, all excellent.
Sky Zone has multiple GTA locations — the nearest to downtown Toronto are in Scarborough (40 min by transit) and Mississauga (30 min by car). Book online ahead of time, especially on weekends and PA days when sessions sell out. Toddler Time sessions run weekday mornings and are specifically for under-7s in a calmer, less crowded environment.
