Roncesvalles — 'Roncy' to the locals who have lived there long enough to earn the nickname — is one of Toronto's most genuine neighbourhood streets. A 1.2km strip of Roncesvalles Avenue between Dundas West and Howard Park Avenue contains Polish delis that have been open since the 1950s, modern restaurants that found their way here because the rents were still reasonable, family pubs that have been serving the same families for two generations, and a Saturday farmers' market that draws the whole neighbourhood out at once. It lacks the cool-factor marketing of King West or Ossington and is better for it.
