The palm dome in January when it's -20°C outside is a genuinely transcendent experience. Stepping from a Canadian winter into a room that smells of tropical vegetation and humidity is something Toronto rarely offers for free. Bring a camera — the morning light through the Victorian dome glass on the palms is extraordinary. The cactus room is excellent year-round.
Getting there
Subway to College (Line 1), east exit, then streetcar 506 Carlton east to Homewood. Or walk east on Carlton from College station (about 12 minutes). The greenhouse entrance is on Horticultural Ave, just south of Carlton St.
