Everyone visits High Park for cherry blossoms, but the ravine trails on the west and south sides of the park are completely empty year-round — running through genuine old-growth-adjacent forest along Grenadier Pond and the West Toronto Ravine. The park is 161 hectares, and most visitors see maybe 5% of it.

Enter from the West Road trail near Colborne Lodge and head into the ravine system. Grenadier Pond in fog at 7am in October is one of the most unexpectedly beautiful things in Toronto. Deer, foxes, mink, herons, and migratory warblers live in the park year-round — bring binoculars. The Colborne Lodge section has High Park's best picnic spots too.
Getting there
Subway to High Park (Line 2) — the park entrance is directly at the station. Bus 30 Lambton or 26 Dupont also serve various park entrances. Main gate is at Bloor St W & High Park Ave.
