Public Pier turns Marina Quay West into a temporary day-to-night cultural destination for three weekends only. The overall experience is free and open to everyone, with Super Yummy Market food, drinks from Great Lakes Brewpub, live DJs, free beginner-friendly dance workshops, interactive public art and SILO NIGHTS projections across the Canada Malting Silos. The strongest reason to stay after sunset is SILO NIGHTS, curated by OCAD University. From September 18–19, Decomposition No. 7: Undergrowth by Ali Phi transforms Toronto street-tree data into a large-scale audiovisual experience projected across the silos. It is a world premiere presented in partnership with The Bentway, not simply a light show. Public Pier returns September 25–26 with the market, drinks, DJs, free dance workshops and SILO NIGHTS. The final weekend is October 2–3, with October 3 overlapping Nuit Blanche Toronto and extended projection programming. Public Trust by Paul Ramírez Jonas adds a participatory public-art layer where visitors make promises to themselves, other people and the city. The promises become part of an evolving public portrait. WTF Toronto's take: Public Pier combines several experiences that would normally require separate stops — waterfront food and drinks, DJs, free dance classes, interactive public art and huge nighttime projections across one of Toronto's most recognizable industrial landmarks. Participation: Food and drinks are available onsite but are not free. Dance workshops are free and beginner-friendly. The official information recommends the 509 Harbourfront streetcar to Dan Leckie Way; the site is also accessible along the Waterfront Trail beside Toronto Music Garden.
