About the event

A winter evening at Harbourfront Centre does not have to end with a market browse. Illuminair’s Frost & Fire adds choreographed fire artistry to HarbourFrost, combining multiple performers, spinning flames and dynamic group sequences in Community Square.

The organizer describes winter-themed performances using a variety of fire apparatus. The appeal is the movement of fire against an evening setting: a different kind of seasonal show from a concert or a conventional theatre production. Admission is free and no tickets are required.

There are 16 separate half-hour performances on 10 selected dates, from November 20 to December 19, 2026. This is not a daily attraction, an all-evening installation or continuous entertainment during the market’s opening hours.

Complete date-by-date performance timetable

All times below are local Toronto time. Where two shows are listed, each is a separate performance; the time between them is not another confirmed show.

  • Friday, November 20: 6–6:30 p.m. and 7:30–8 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 21: 6–6:30 p.m. and 7–7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, November 27: 7:30–8 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 28: 6–6:30 p.m. and 7–7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, December 4: 7:30–8 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 5: 6–6:30 p.m. and 7–7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, December 11: 7:30–8 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 12: 7:30–8 p.m. and 8:30–9 p.m.
  • Friday, December 18: 7:30–8 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 19: 6:45–7:15 p.m. and 9–9:30 p.m.

December 12 and December 19 do not follow the earlier Saturday pattern. The final performance begins at 9 p.m. on December 19 and ends at 9:30 p.m. No Sunday performances are listed, and the dates above should not be expanded into a daily recurrence.

What the show includes

Harbourfront Centre confirms multiple artists, choreography, a variety of fire apparatus, spins and group performances. Rather than promising a particular trick or prop, expect the programme described by the organizer: winter-themed fire performance with coordinated movement and flames.

The reviewed listing does not identify every apparatus, publish a scene-by-scene running order or announce special lighting technology. The supplied promotional illustration is an atmospheric representation, not proof of the actual performers, costumes, props, snow conditions or audience arrangement.

Choosing a performance

Choose your date and your specific start time before travelling. The six dates with two performances offer a choice, but the organizer does not say whether the two shows have identical content. A second slot is not evidence of a different production.

Arriving before your chosen start is sensible if you need time to find Community Square and follow staff instructions. It does not guarantee a particular sightline, reserved space or immediate access. Audience capacity, seating and designated viewing arrangements are not published on the main event page.

Where to go and how to prepare

The published venue is Community Square, Harbourfront Centre, 235 Queens Quay West, Toronto. Use Harbourfront Centre’s official directions and campus map to locate the square rather than treating the general address as an exact audience entrance.

Dress for an outdoor waterfront evening, check the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Outdoor fire performances may be affected by weather or safety conditions; check the organizer for updates before travelling. The reviewed page does not set out a cancellation threshold, replacement venue or rescheduling policy.

Follow any staff instructions and keep clear of the performance area. Supervise children and do not approach performers or fire equipment. No minimum audience distance is published, so do not substitute an invented measurement for on-site guidance. If mobility access, seating or a particular viewing arrangement affects your visit, ask Harbourfront Centre in advance.

Combine it with HarbourFrost

The November 20 fire performances fall on HarbourFrost’s opening night. The first, 6–6:30 p.m., is before the separate Light Up the Night tree-lighting celebration’s advertised 6:45–9 p.m. window; the second, 7:30–8 p.m., falls within it. The tree’s exact illumination minute is not announced, so neither slot guarantees a view of the switch-on.

Frostbite Lane and the Redpath Express operate on their own Friday-to-Sunday schedules. Hala Circus Arts has 10 separately listed character-programming dates, while the HarbourFrost Makers Market runs November 20–22 only. Check each visitor guide when combining activities; sharing the HarbourFrost name does not mean they share every date or closing time.

On December 19, the 9–9:30 p.m. fire performance runs beyond the market and train’s listed 9 p.m. closing and Hala’s listed 8 p.m. finish. Plan that late show as its own scheduled stop, not as evidence that the rest of the campus’s attractions remain open.
